Sitting at the airport and waiting so I thought I’ll take the opportunity to write a post now…
Last night I attended the Cape Town leg of Passion’s World Tour (the last destination of their second leg). Over 6000 university-aged students were present at the Belville Velodrome (where the Hillsong United Conference will be held in Nov) and it was an awesome time with Louie Giglio, Chris Tomlin n’ Matt Redman.
Mid-way through praise & worship, Chris started singing ‘God of this city,’ and that’s where I lost it…
This is where I have a confession to make…
When we started singing this song in Sydney about 3 months ago, I loved it! In fact, every time I sang it, it was a declaration over Cape Town and South Africa already… Even though my physical body was in Australia.
Never has my heart felt so much for a nation before… For her people… For justice… AND for God’s name to be lifted high!
I believe it with my whole heart. There is something special about this nation. God has never forgotten His people. I can only imagine how His heart broke as He looked down on the atrocities of past years…
But today is a new day! God’s mercies are new every morning!!! ‘N I know that as the church of God rises up together united, God is showing Himself faithful… To lift up the lowly, to bring dignity to those cast down and to mend the hearts of people.
I truly believe it… God is the God of this city!!!

- I’ve found my favourite coffee @ Vida @ the Waterfront n’ it’s called a crazy mocha! (Crazy because I don’t want no cream nor froth!) They use Lindt chocolate… mmmMMM-
- My favourite sushi place, Willoughby & Co has a head chef that is Singaporean! How funny!
- Wang Thai is my thai food fix…
- The Mugg & the Bean (as Lucinda calls it) is my any-time-of-the-day food place! All day brekkie YEAH!
- No shopping so far ‘cuz I haven’t found anything that screams *WOW!* Haha…
- And I’ve watched one movie at 26 rand (=A$3.76 or S$4.70) or roundabout that ‘cuz I can’t totally remember…
- I’ve been to 2 Sundays @ church, 1 worship practice (no I still can’t sing or dance!) and 1 church picnic and have met probably hundreds of people!!! I’m still trying to remember names AND PRONOUNCE them right!
- My Afrikaans is still elementary with “jy is ‘n mal aap!”
- I have driven for 7 days and practised defensive driving!
- P.S bars have become my staple…
- And I have found my relaxation place
Pics to come! (I’ll try and remember to take them…)

n’ I LOVE IT!!!
I absolutely do… There are so many beautiful things about this country! The people for one are simply gorgeous!!! If you think that Aussies are friendly, you haven’t seen the South Africans! Or at least the ones in church are!!! SO SO WARM n’ LOVELY! And then there’s the mountains and the beaches! Unspoilt beauty…
When I walked into church for the first time last Sunday, it felt like HOME! It totally felt like I was walking into a Hillsong church… only thing was that there were different people there! I LOVED IT!!! We had passionate and very amazing volunteers everywhere and the warmth was totally palpable.
FOOD here is yummy! And the prices… even BETTER! So far I’ve eaten thai, sushi, nice brekkie and plenty of coffee. Haha! I just had to work out decent coffee places to go to! There’s Gloria Jeans and Seatlle Coffee Company here but I quite like the local Greens, Green Bean or even Mugg & Bean (yummy brekkie!). Haagen Daaz is here (YES!!!) but so far I have not found any substitute for the Lindt Cafe yet… Haha- And yes, they make my super super super crispy bacon to perfection here so I have no complains!!!
SHOPPING is a bit dismal… I have yet to find anything I really like here. But hey! maybe I’d save A LOT of money then. Haha! There’s Nine West, Aldo, Guess, Esprit and stuff but nothing quite like Sportsgirl, Witchery, Zara, Topshop… Any of my friends wanna send me some nice clothes?
DRIVING… While in Africa, drive like the Africans do! No one signals very much here! And at roundabouts… initially I was really puzzled since there seemed to be no rule or convention of what happens there… so now it’s fully whoever gets in first gets right of way!!! It’s generally been quite good driving around… up until tonight when I got lost soooooo many times while driving to this place where we have mid-week church activities! I was honestly rather freaked out this one time at night when I drove into this one road that seemed to wind up the mountain!!! Anyhow I’m safe and sound at home now so I’m thankful!
Anyway… it’s way past my bedtime so now that I’ve finally updated my blog, I’m off! ‘nite!
I love Cape Town!

No more stores at Carlingford, Chatswood, Blacktown, Bondi Junction, Erina Fair, Hornsby and Parra!
The ‘original store’ at Hyde Park’s still gonna be there + one at the airport… And at the Kids’ Hospital @ Westmead!
I’m thankful and glad that my friends can still get their fix within proximity (but not really with convenience anymore).
For a full list of store closures, see Starbucks Australia website.

Ahhh!!! I just read in the Sydney Morning Herald today that there are speculations of some Starbucks closures! O… K… There are less than 30 Starbucks in Sydney, compared to about 60 in Singapore (which is smaller than Sydney!!) and they are gonna shut some down?
I once had a convo with a Starbucks manager who told me that the parent company had a philosophy of even keeping stores that weren’t making profits since it was more to do with having a presence than making money… Guess with all the crazy losses in America where there apparently is a Starbucks at every corner, it’s forced this drastic measure!
We shall wait and see…
Read on for the article in SMH…
Coffee mega-chain Starbucks has refused to hose down speculation that managers of Australian stores will be told at a meeting at 4pm today of plans to close outlets.
A month after the chain’s US office announced the closure of 600 stores there, workers at Sydney Starbucks storesĀ have confirmed that staff have been summoned to a meeting today.
There are more than two dozen stores in Sydney and 85 nationwide. Read the rest of this entry »
